Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan have failed, says Gargash

Diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed, Dr Anwar Gargash, stated that Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan have proven to be unsuccessful. He emphasized the necessity of tackling the political and economic facets of the six-month conflict, reiterating his warning that a state of neither war nor peace cannot endure after the UAE and Jordan responded to Iran's renewed attacks.

Gargash suggested that efforts should commence by halting escalation and restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, as this state cannot be a viable solution and the policy of targeting the Arab Gulf states and Jordan has been proven ineffective. He advocated for realistic and sustainable political solutions to address the crisis, starting with resolving the escalation and returning navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to normalcy, and broadening to a more practical approach beyond the memorandum of understanding that failed to provide a feasible roadmap.

Gargash's comments followed the UAE Ministry of Defence's report of an Iranian drone being intercepted within its territorial waters, with no emergency alerts sent to citizens. The ministry affirmed that the Armed Forces maintain a high state of readiness to counter any potential threats, and air defense systems monitor and protect the nation's airspace continuously.

The Ministry of Defence denied allegations by Iranian media that Al Minhad Air Base was targeted by missiles, asserting that the statement was false and that the base remained in a "high state of readiness" to respond to external threats. Jordan reported that its air defenses intercepted eight missiles in its airspace following Iran's retaliatory strikes against the US, which attacked two military bases in Jordan.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed the attack was in response to US strikes on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, while US Central Command announced that its forces had carried out "limited, precise action" against Iran's minelaying forces threatening the strait.
