Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan have failed, says Gargash

Dr. Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed, stated that Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan have proven to be ineffective. He emphasized the necessity of tackling both the political and economic facets of the six-month conflict. Gargash reiterated his warning that neither war nor peace can endure after the UAE and Jordan responded to renewed Iranian attacks.

According to him, resolving this issue requires pausing the escalation and reestablishing freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Gargash asserted in a statement on X that the current state of neither war nor peace is unsustainable, just as targeting the Arab Gulf states and Jordan has failed. He called for pragmatic and enduring political resolutions that address the political and economic dimensions of the crisis, starting with ending the escalation, restoring normalcy to the Strait of Hormuz, and moving towards a more realistic approach beyond the memorandum of understanding that failed to outline a practical and acceptable pathway forward.

His comments followed the UAE Ministry of Defence's announcement that an Iranian drone had been intercepted within its territorial waters. No emergency alerts were issued to residents. The ministry affirmed that the Armed Forces remain on a heightened state of readiness to respond to any potential threats, while air defense systems continuously monitor and protect the country's airspace around the clock.

The Ministry of Defence contradicted Iranian media claims that the Al Minhad Air Base had been attacked by missiles, stating that such reports were unfounded and that the base remained in a "high state of readiness" to respond to any external threats. Jordan reported that its air defenses intercepted eight missiles in its airspace following what were claimed to be retaliatory strikes by Iran against the US, specifically targeting two military bases in Jordan.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attributed the attack to the US strikes on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command reported that its forces had executed "limited, precise action" against Iran's minelaying forces posing an immediate threat in the strait.
