'HUBB – LOVE' exhibition opens in Katara

The "Love" exhibition, a contemporary artistic exploration of love as a universal language, opened at Katara Cultural Village on Tuesday. Curated by British artist Shahida Ahmed, the show features hand-painted works, installations, and a ceramic sculpture infused with Arabic calligraphy. The exhibition, which marks Ahmed's first use of Arabic calligraphy throughout its entirety, aims to bridge British and Arab cultural perspectives through the themes of love, peace, and unity.

In an interview with Gulf Times, Ahmed emphasized the significance of art as a dialogue between cultures, stating, "As a British artist, it was very important for me to represent art as a universal dialogue." The exhibition, her third at Katara, features a range of mediums including painting, sculpture, and mixed media, drawing inspiration from Arabic calligraphy and the visual heritage of the Arab world.

Ahmed's work has been exhibited internationally and held in various collections, reflecting the global resonance of her multidisciplinary practice that bridges cultural contexts and fosters cultural exchange.
