Go Woo-suk headed back to minors for Minnesota Twins after clearing waivers

South Korean pitcher Go Woo-suk has returned to the minor leagues with the Minnesota Twins after passing through waivers. The Twins designated Go for assignment two days ago, following a brief stint with their Triple-A affiliate, the St. Paul Saints. When no team claimed him off waivers, the Twins opted to send him back to the Saints rather than releasing him outright.

Go made his MLB debut with the Twins on July 9, more than two years after signing with the San Diego Padres. However, he only appeared in four games and four innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits, including two home runs. Following a ejection and a subsequent suspension, Go struggled in eight outings for the Saints, posting a 2-1 record with a 12.54 ERA.

Prior to his MLB career, Go was a top closer in the Korea Baseball Organization. After struggling in the Padres' system, he was traded to the Marlins, who released him. The Detroit Tigers subsequently signed him to a minor league deal, and he has since spent time in their minor league system. Go's next chapter involves further time in the Twins' minor league organization.
