GAFM demands retraction from GTEC over ‘unrecognised universities’ listing

The Global Academy of Finance and Management (GAFM) has demanded that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) retract a listing that places GAFM among unrecognised universities and issue a public apology. GAFM claims the inclusion in media reports was incorrect, damaging its reputation. The professional body insists it is not a university, has never operated as one, and does not award academic degrees; instead, it provides industry certifications.

GAFM argues GTEC must differentiate between a professional certification body and an academic university, questioning the Commission's lack of ability to discern the difference. GTEC's role is to accredit tertiary institutions and academic programmes, not GAFM's industry-based certifications. GAFM is prepared to submit to any regulations GTEC establishes for professional bodies but rejects the defamation of its status.

The organisation has given GTEC a 14-day deadline to retract the listing and issue an apology, threatening legal action if the demands are not met. GAFM encourages its members to remain calm, stating its leadership is pursuing legal, diplomatic, and administrative actions to resolve the dispute.
