Fuel prices set to go up from September 1, Petrol to sell at GHC 16.69 and Diesel, GHC 17.90 – COMAC

From September 1, 2026, fuel prices in Ghana are set to increase, with petrol selling at GHC 16.69 and diesel at GHC 17.90 per litre, according to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC). The petrol price will rise by 4.80%, while diesel will experience a 2.10% increase. LPG, on the other hand, will see a 0.93% decrease, resulting in a kilogramme selling at GHC 13.73.

The rise in fuel prices has been influenced by factors such as rising international crude oil prices and higher prices of finished petroleum products. Despite the cedi appreciating by 3.64% against the US dollar, global crude oil and refined product prices remain elevated, reflecting the impact of international market conditions and geopolitical factors.

The government has intervened to mitigate the impact of the price hike by extending a GHC 2 per litre reduction in the regulatory margin for diesel into the September pricing window. Additionally, the National Petroleum Authority has increased the price floor for fuel products, mandating a minimum selling price of GHC 14.53 for petrol and GHC 15.60 for diesel, which represents approximately a 4.38% increase.
