From midnight to noon, Hospital Tunku Azizah welcomes 12 Merdeka babies including twin girls

On September 1, Hospital Tunku Azizah in Kuala Lumpur welcomed 12 newborns, including a pair of twin girls, on the 69th National Day of Malaysia. All ten babies were born between midnight and noon, with six boys and six girls. Hospital director Dr Shamsul Anuar Kamarudin emphasized that a birth on National Day carries deeper significance, symbolizing life, hope, and the nation's future.

He stated, "Every birth is not just a number. It represents a family, a hope and a trust for the future." For 29-year-old mother Nor Asyikin Mat Zain, having her second child on National Day added extra meaning, as her firstborn was born on January 1. Her second child, a 3.13-kilogramme boy, was born naturally at 5:45 am. "I'm so proud.

My first was born on New Year's Day, and now her little brother arrives on National Day," she told Bernama. Siti Zulaikha Mohd Jasni, 33, became the first mother to deliver a Merdeka baby at HTA this year, giving birth to a 2.78-kilogramme boy via caesarean section at 12:05 am. Despite the baby arriving earlier than his expected due date of September 8, Zulaikha felt that August 31 held special significance for her family.

Rajeah Amud, 32, shared that her daughter's birth on National Day was a blessing, as she was due on September 8. Her baby girl was delivered naturally at 7:55 am.
