Finland’s S-Transistors raises €2.6 million to build the world’s first quantum motherboard

Finnish startup S-Transistors, a spin-off from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, has secured €2.6 million in pre-Seed funding to revolutionize quantum computing with its superconducting transistors. The funding round was led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from an angel investor.

The company aims to develop several product prototypes for cryogenic signal control and handling, establish its own cryogenic laboratory, set up a manufacturing pilot line, and expand its team. Dr. Heorhii Bohuslavskyi, co-founder and CEO, emphasized the need to bring classical control and interface hardware into the cryostat to overcome the scaling wall currently faced by superconducting quantum computers.

S-Transistors' superconducting transistors promise to provide energy-efficient and compact solutions compared to existing alternatives, which struggle with combining performance and low power consumption. The company's first product is a multiplexer designed to plug into existing cryogenic setups, expediting the development and prototyping of quantum devices.

S-Transistors believes its technology holds potential in various fields, including classical and quantum computing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing hardware, spacecraft electronics, and fundamental particle detectors.
