Financial irregularities drop 62.9% to GH¢7.69bn in 2025 — Nyarko Ampem

The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has reported a remarkable 62.9% reduction in financial irregularities across five audited sectors, dropping from an estimated GH¢20.72 billion in 2024 to GH¢7.69 billion in 2025. This significant decline of approximately GH¢13.03 billion, or 62.9%, surpasses the government's target of a 50% reduction set for 2025.

At a recent engagement with key officials, Mr. Ampem highlighted that this achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of focused efforts on public financial management, strengthened controls, and increased accountability. The Deputy Minister emphasized that deliberate attention to financial management and robust oversight can yield measurable results, affirming that such targeted measures are delivering tangible benefits in curbing financial irregularities.
