Financial irregularities drop 62.9% to GH¢7.69bn in 2025 — Nyarko Ampem

Financial irregularities across five audited sectors have dropped by 62.9%, according to Deputy Minister for Finance Thomas Nyarko Ampem. The figure has reduced from around GH¢20.72 billion in 2024 to GH¢7.69 billion in 2025, a decline of approximately GH¢13.03 billion. This represents an impressive 62.9% decrease, surpassing the government's target of a 50% reduction.

At an engagement on the 2025 Auditor-General's Reports, Ampem highlighted the significant achievement, stating that the reduction exceeds expectations by 12.9 percentage points. He attributed the improvement to deliberate attention to public financial management, stronger controls, and greater accountability. The engagement also discussed the findings of the Auditor-General and the importance of improving compliance, addressing weaknesses, and preventing the recurrence of financial irregularities.
