FIFA president Infantino ‘must go’, says ex-UEFA boss Platini

Former UEFA president Michel Platini has called for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to step down in the wake of several scandals plaguing the world football governing body. Infantino has faced criticism over his private investment plan for FIFA events and numerous controversies during the recent World Cup in North America. Former UEFA president Platini criticized Infantino for failing to respect the rules of the game and for allowing ad breaks during crucial moments of the World Cup, such as the hydration breaks and the half-time show.

Platini further accused Infantino of "criminal mismanagement" and a "criminal conspiracy to commit false accusation" in a lawsuit he filed against Infantino, former FIFA officials Marco Villiger and Domenico Scala in France. Other regions, including CONCACAF and Asia, have joined UEFA in pressuring Infantino to resign, with Platini suggesting that legal action may be taken against him.
