'Chief Minister For Everyone': Suvendu Adhikari Announces Development Projects In Nandigram

Kolkata: On August 31, 2026, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced several development projects in the Nandigram region. The projects encompassed various sectors such as health, infrastructure, connectivity, and welfare schemes. Adhikari specifically mentioned minority-dominated villages like Mohammadpur, Shamsabad, and Kendamari during the announcement.

Despite not securing a single vote from the minority areas, Adhikari emphasized his commitment to serve everyone as the Chief Minister. The initiatives include government bus services, housing, healthcare, education, agriculture, and social security. Adhikari assured that in Nandigram block 1 and 2, approximately 30,000 migrant workers would be able to avail free medical treatment of up to Rs five lakh across the country.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also criticized former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly playing 'vendetta politics' after her defeat in the Nandigram constituency during the 2021 Assembly elections. Adhikari highlighted that 67,000 women were provided with financial assistance under the 'Annapurna Yojana' in the month of August.

Furthermore, he recalled securing the death certificates of seven martyrs affected during the land agitation in Nandigram, which occurred during the tenure of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Adhikari appealed for a higher margin of votes in the Nandigram Assembly seat bypoll, stating that he wanted more votes than the Falta bypoll in the region.
