BRS questions CM’s silence on A.P.’s Krishna water diversion

BRS deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao has criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's silence on Andhra Pradesh's diversion of Krishna water from Srisailam in Telangana. Rao alleged that Andhra Pradesh has been drawing nearly 11 tmc ft of water from Srisailam in Telangana's basin through the Veligonda project, despite Telangana's in-basin irrigation projects being dry.

He accused the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) of remaining silent on the matter. Rao accused the Congress government of neglecting the completion of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, which would have helped Telangana. He claimed that Andhra Pradesh had started diverting water illegally with the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator and adding lifts at Malyala and Muchumarri to draw water for Handri-Neeva and K.C. Canal. Rao urged Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to respond and intervene in the matter.
