The team opted to move rookie right-hander CJ Van Eyk to Triple-A Buffalo before the three-game road series commences on Tuesday. Toronto had secured a 7-0 series sweep over the Seattle Mariners, currently holding a 1.5 game deficit in the Wild Card race.

However, they had an off day on Monday before facing the Guardians. The Blue Jays did not replace Van Eyk, leaving the spot open for potential activation of Jameson Taillon from the injured list during the Guardians series. Van Eyk, drafted by the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Florida State, is 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA in four games this season.
