Berlin, Germany - The Deutsche Bahn plans to invest 210 million euros in cleaner train stations and newer trains, along with enhanced safety measures, by 2030, according to Bild journalist reporting on statements from Bahn chief Evelyn Palla. This investment comes as part of an initial emergency program that is expected to continue long-term. Palla stated to the newspaper that "cleaner trains and stations, more safety, and greater comfort should no longer be the exception, but our new standard."

However, the implementation of these plans is not progressing as smoothly as desired. Despite this, Palla affirmed the company's commitment to making the railway industry better every day. So far, the efforts under the recent programs have resulted in the cleaning of an area the size of 200 football fields, removal of graffiti covering 17,000 square meters, and deployment of 44 mobile maintenance teams to repair damages in stations.

Additionally, 220 employees are working daily on extra cleaning tasks, doubling the number of workers previously employed for this purpose.

ICE trains will now undergo thorough cleaning in specialized wash lanes using hand scrubbing techniques, with the company's workers taking the extra step of scrubbing until the train gleams. Palla emphasized the importance of cleanliness, stating that "the dirt must go. That is why our teams use brushes and scrub until the ICE gleams. Our passengers should see from the moment the train pulls into the station that the company is committed to quality down to the last detail."
