Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Budi Madani fuel subsidy quota would return to 300 liters starting tomorrow. The Malaysian Finance Ministry (Mof) explained that managing fuel supplies is now balanced between government factors, including the return of monthly subsidy quotas under Budi Madani from 200 liters to 300 liters for BUDI95 and Budi Diesel recipients, considering stronger control, a robust economy, and the government's financial capability.

This move also takes into account the needs of people needing to travel long distances for daily activities and small business owners reliant on vehicles for income. The Madani government will continue to ensure fuel subsidies reach eligible Malaysians while strengthening efforts to curb leaks, fraud, and misuse, according to a statement.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that Budi Madani fuel subsidy quotas would return to 300 liters, among six initiatives announced on Malaysia's 69th Independence Day. This also aims to alleviate people's burdens. Previously, the government temporarily reduced the base efficiency of BUDI95 from 300 liters to 200 liters starting April 1, following uncertainty in fuel supply due to conflicts in the Western Asia.

According to Mof, 16 million users enjoy subsidized RON95 at RM1.99 per liter, while over 700,000 also qualify for subsidized diesel at RM2.10 per liter. Notably, more than half a million private and commercial vehicle owners can apply for an additional 100 liters monthly, increasing their monthly allowance to 400 liters. Eligible private and commercial truck owners who haven't applied can do so through the Budi Madani portal at www.budimadani.gov.my.

For truck and commercial vehicle owners who have already been approved for an additional 100 liters, their allowance will automatically be adjusted to 400 liters starting September 1.
