Autonomous Deliveries Could Go Mainstream By 2030

Avride, a company specializing in autonomous delivery technology, has deployed over 1,000 autonomous vehicles, including delivery robots and passenger cars, in U.S. cities and college campuses. Chief Commercial Officer Sergei Kirillov stated that by 2030, autonomous delivery devices and vehicles will likely dominate dense urban areas.

Avride's robots, sized like suitcases, are used for last-mile deliveries on platforms like Uber Eats and Grubhub, while passenger cars are operated on the Uber platform. These vehicles have been shown to decrease vandalism due to their animated faces. However, human supervision is still required for passenger car rides until further infrastructure and technology developments occur.

Avride plans to expand its operations into three more markets by 2028, with autonomous delivery in dense urban areas projected to be a major player by 2030.
