Auren strengthens its public sector area with Elena Michelena and Jordi Bonet

Auren Legal has strengthened its public law and regulatory area by hiring Elena Michelena and Jordi Bonet, both recently transferred from Ecija. Michelena will join the firm as a new partner, while Bonet will take on the role of counsel. Both professionals will lead the development of public law in Barcelona.

Michelena brings over 25 years of experience in public law, regulation, and public procurement. Throughout her career, she has advised public administrations, participating entities, and businesses in regulated sectors on issues such as public procurement, urban planning, environmental, and sectoral regulation. She specializes in public procurement, urbanism, the environment, and sectoral regulation, combining technical expertise with a vision for innovation and technological transformation in the legal field.

A graduate of the University of Barcelona, Michelena has held leadership positions at firms like Garrigues and Uría Menéndez before joining Ecija. Before Ecija, she founded her own specialized firm.

Jordi Bonet also has a rich background in public and administrative law, with a focus on urbanism, infrastructure, the environment, and land-use planning. He has advised public and private entities on large-impact territorial projects, particularly in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. His expertise includes urban planning, license management, administrative procedures, and contentious-administrative litigation.

Bonet has also combined his professional work with institutional responsibilities and has participated in various public and private governance bodies. He has served on the expert commission for defining Catalonia's territorial and administrative organization model.

The new hires will bolster Auren Legal's public law division, strengthening the firm's capabilities in this area. Alongside Daniel Aroca, Lluís Basart, and Alex Massaguer in finance; Josè Maràia Bargallo, Fina Huelmo, and Felicitas Ric in litigation; and Alfons Companys, Josè Luis de la Cruz, and Carles Remeirez in financial area, Michelena will be the tenth partner at Auren Legal's Barcelona office.
