Asif inspects Lahore airport, directs steps for smooth passenger facilitation

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif toured Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday to assess passenger facilitation measures and examine ongoing construction projects. He was greeted by the Acting Chief Operating Officer, Airport Manager, and other senior aviation officials.

During his inspection of the ASF Second Hold (International) Area, the Minister noticed long queues of female passengers and instructed airport management to set up extra search counters to speed up security checks and prevent delays.

He also toured the freshly built Immigration Area, reviewing the working immigration counters and discussing the unfinished construction work. The Acting COO and Airport Manager briefed him on the progress of ongoing development projects and temporary arrangements to ensure smooth passenger processing amidst the construction.

Furthermore, the Minister inspected the International Departure Joint Search Area and various passenger service facilities, expressing overall satisfaction with the current arrangements while stressing the importance of maintaining high standards of service delivery and passenger convenience.

Later, Khawaja Asif visited the under-construction Domestic Departure Area, receiving updates on the project’s status, planned amenities, and completion schedule. He expressed concern over heavy traffic congestion at the Departure Drop-off Lane and ordered the airport management to prioritize the expansion of the lane to ensure smooth traffic flow. He also directed authorities to find a balance between construction activities and normal airport operations to prevent any inconvenience to the public.
