‘An act of resistance’: Raja Shehadeh’s Palestinian diaries find a new home

On Saturday, Israeli settlers invaded the Palestinian village of Qusra in the West Bank and forcibly took a home while the owner, Louay Adli, was inside, according to reports. The incident occurred during the afternoon and involved what the settlers claimed to be "dozens" of rioters. Adli recounted how the crowd of settlers swelled to between 60 and 70 individuals, throwing stones at them as he reached out to the Israeli police for help.

The settlers reportedly surrounded the home from all sides, hurling stones at them for an hour before the army intervened. Despite the presence of the army, the settlers remained on the scene, while the settlers were on the opposite side. Forced to flee to the roof for air, Adli and six others eventually surrendered to the soldiers, who blindfolded him and warned him against returning.

The Israeli military declared they had used "proportionate force" against their alleged resistance, though they did not specify why the settlers were not arrested. The Prime Minister noted that three vehicles were confiscated during the operation, but the IDF claimed the settlers dispersed under their own initiative. As of Sunday, no arrests had been announced, with the police investigation ongoing.
