Edmonton - Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is urging Canadians to understand U.S. President Donald Trump's recent decision to rebrand Lake Ontario as Lake America. Speaking on Fox Business Network, Smith explained that Canadians are confused and disappointed by this action, particularly considering the strong economic and military ties between the two nations.

She highlighted that Canadian and American troops fought side by side in Afghanistan, and the upcoming 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks against the U.S. serves as a reminder of their close relationship. Smith emphasized that Canadians do not comprehend why Americans would seek to weaken Canada, adding that the ongoing trade war would harm small businesses and result in job losses on both sides of the border.
