51 persons with disabilities get three-wheel bikes

The Visakhapatnam district government has distributed three-wheeled motor vehicles to 51 individuals with disabilities, a move aimed at fostering independent living and self-reliance. The handover ceremony took place at the Collectorate premises on Monday, with key officials present including legislators Vishnukumar Raju and Vamsi Krishna Srinivas, District Revenue Officer M. Visweswara Naidu, and Assistant Director Kavitha of the Department for Differently Abled Persons.

Each of the three-wheeler motor vehicles, valued at around ₹1.02 lakh, was presented to the beneficiaries. So far, 60 vehicles have been sanctioned for the six Assembly constituencies within the district. However, 79 applications were received, and 51 eligible beneficiaries were chosen for this initiative, as informed by Kavitha.

Vishnukumar Raju expressed that the government plans to extend the benefits to other eligible individuals. Gadupooti Narayanaswamy, the chairman of the State Corporation for Differently Abled Persons, revealed that a total of 1,750 motorized scooters are being distributed across the State, with 10 units allocated to each Assembly constituency.
