3 Famous Buildings in Islamabad Sealed

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken significant action to enhance fire safety across Islamabad following a recent fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). As a result of multiple violations of fire safety regulations, the CDA has sealed three prominent buildings in the capital city. These include the Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat, State Life Building, and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) building.

Inspections by CDA authorities revealed critical fire safety deficiencies at these buildings. At the Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat, inspectors found insufficient fire extinguishers and inadequate emergency exits and evacuation routes. Furthermore, the administration was found to have failed to rectify these issues despite receiving multiple notices, leading to the decision to seal the building.

The CDA's firefighting inspection also uncovered a range of other safety concerns at the two hospitals. These included issues with fire detection and alarm systems, firefighting equipment, emergency lighting, exit signage, and evacuation routes. Consequently, both hospitals have been ordered by the CDA Fire Service to correct these deficiencies and submit compliance reports.

The administrations of the three sealed buildings are required to pay fines of Rs. 500,000 each within a seven-day period. The CDA has indicated that further legal action will be taken against any buildings that continue to violate fire safety regulations.
