2027: Opposition summit sets agenda to unseat Tinubu

On Monday, opposition political parties gathered in Abuja for a summit aimed at uniting against President Bola Tinubu and his ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 presidential election. The Social Democratic Party and the Peoples Redemption Party confirmed their attendance, while the Peoples Democratic Party declined to participate.

The summit, organized by the political pressure group G-100, seeks to explore potential cooperation among opposition parties ahead of the general elections. G-100 leader Salihu Lukman emphasized the need for opposition parties to set aside differences and work together to offer a credible alternative to the ruling party. He noted that past elections had shown the risks of a fragmented opposition and stressed the importance of cooperation over division.

The G-100 assured that the summit would not force participants to abandon their identities or ambitions, but rather provide a platform to establish mechanisms for dialogue and coordination.
