2 held in Manipur after body parts of woman found in train from TN

Two individuals have been arrested in Manipur's Jiribam district in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu, whose dismembered body was discovered in a suitcase on a Delhi-bound train. The accused, Manik Uddin Laskar, aged 22 from Assam's Cachar district, and his wife, Bhagabati Majhi, known as Ayesha Begum, aged 21 from Odisha's Kendujhar district, were apprehended on August 28 and 29 respectively by a joint team of Tamil Nadu and Manipur police.

They are expected to be handed over to the T8 Guduvanchery police station in Tamil Nadu for further formalities before being transferred to Chennai for investigation. Forensic examination confirmed the victim as Hayathun Nisha, an Odisha native, who had reportedly been involved in an illicit relationship with the suspects. The crime unfolded when passengers on a Delhi-bound train noticed a foul smell emanating from a suitcase on August 3, leading to the discovery of the victim's body.
