10 security recruits dismissed for violating phone ban – Muntaka

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has announced that a minimum of ten recruits have been terminated from Ghana's security services training schools due to breaches of a mobile phone ban. These recruits were discovered to be secretly retaining their devices following instructions to surrender them upon entry. The dismissals were deemed essential to uphold discipline and ensure strict adherence to the rules governing security services training institutions.

Muntaka Mubarak conveyed this information during an encounter with students at Satafiya Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, where he discussed the recruitment process and the expectations of prospective recruits. He expressed concern over certain recruits attempting to evade institutional regulations post-admission, emphasizing that joining a security service entails significant responsibilities and necessitates a high degree of discipline.

Additionally, he revealed that over 500,000 individuals applied in the most recent security services recruitment drive, but only approximately 10,000 were chosen for training. This figures underscore the highly competitive nature of the recruitment process. He urged potential applicants to recognize the discipline required upon selection, noting that upon entering training schools, all phones are immediately confiscated.
