World number one Scheffler claims second Fedex Cup title

Scottie Scheffler, the world number one, secured his second Fedex Cup title on Sunday at the PGA Tour's season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta. At the outset, Scheffler trailed Viktor Hovland by three strokes. However, Scheffler displayed a metronomic performance as the final day approached, ultimately winning the championship. The prize money for winning the event is $10 million (£7.4 million).

Scheffler's performance was characterized by a consistent round of 66, the only one to break par among the final three pairings. Hovland, whose driving fell short and putter went cold as needed, posted a two-over 72 round and finished three strokes behind Scheffler. American debutant Ryan Gerard and English golfer Alex Fitzpatrick both ended the day at 12 under par after shooting a 72, placing them third and fourth overall respectively.

Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy failed to regain the momentum he had on Saturday, with a round of 69 containing four birdies, an eagle, and five bogeys. Despite this, Scottish golfer Martin McIlroy, McIlroy's elder brother, managed a tie for fourth place with six-time major winner Rory McIlroy, at 11 under par.
