Women can survive on their own, men can’t – Ahoufe Patri

Ghanaian actress and media figure Ahoufe Patri has urged women to embrace leadership roles, particularly in the creative industry and public sector. The actress, whose real name is Priscilla Opoku Agyeman, believes that women are already influential in society and should utilize their strengths to assume more prominent positions.

In an interview on Joy Prime, Ahoufe Patri stated that women have the potential to surpass men in various fields if they embrace their abilities. "Women run the world. Nothing would exist without women. Men can’t live alone. We can survive on our own, but men can’t," she remarked.

Ahoufe Patri emphasized that women must move beyond acknowledging their influence and actively use it to create opportunities and shape society. She encouraged women to have confidence in their abilities and be willing to occupy traditionally male-dominated spaces. "Hopefully, we will be able to step into our power, own it, and realize that we can do what men can do, and even more and better," she said.

Regarding Ghana's judicial and governmental structures, Ahoufe Patri expressed optimism about the gradual inclusion of women in senior positions. However, she stressed that women must take greater responsibility for advancing their participation in leadership rather than solely relying on systemic changes. She called for more women to take up influential roles in Ghana's entertainment industry, such as producers and directors.

"I just feel like it’s up to us to step up more. Hopefully, there will be more female producers and directors. We are ready, just that a lot more of us need to push instead of surrender," she urged. Ahoufe Patri urged women to remain determined and seize opportunities to influence decisions and shape the future of their respective industries.
