Barcelona midfielder set to miss Rayo Vallecano game after continued training absence

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is set to miss the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano due to continued absence from training. The La Masia product suffered a knock to his right knee during the opening match of the season against Elche, which has delayed his recovery. Hansi Flick, Barcelona's head coach, anticipates that Gavi will require approximately a week before being able to return to group training alongside his teammates.

As a result, Gavi will not be available for Monday's match at the Spotify Camp Nou, where Barcelona aims to extend their unbeaten home run to potentially 21 matches, including the 19 home league games from the previous season. In his absence, Dominik Livakovic, the Croatian goalkeeper, has been training normally for the third consecutive session.

Livakovic signed a four-year contract with Barcelona and watched the team's victory over Athletic Club from the Camp Nou. Additionally, Eder Aller might be included in the squad due to Livakovic's ongoing registration process. Jesse Bisiwu and Marc Casado are still awaiting clearance to compete, while Roony Bardghji remains out due to an ACL injury sustained during pre-season.
