Why Igbos don’t get much support in entertainment industry – Zuby Michael

Nollywood actor Zuby Michael has shed light on the reasons behind the lack of support Igbo talents receive from industry gatekeepers and executives. In an interview with Broadway TV, Michael expressed that these industry insiders are often wary of investing in Igbo talents due to the potential for the Igbo talent to surpass them quickly.

He stated, "Igbo people are fast learners and they are capable of making it big with just a little. You might decide to mentor an Igbo person and what took you 10 years to learn, he will learn it in one year and six months." Michael further added, "And if you don't treat him well, he will leave you and start doing the same business you taught him and become your competition.

So, people are scared of that." He also mentioned that even some Igbos in executive positions avoid supporting their own due to the fear of being outshone by their mentees.
