Dimone Fleming, a 26-year-old mother from New York City, was found not guilty of the 2022 murders of her two sons due to postpartum psychosis. The incident occurred at a Bronx family shelter on November 26, 2022, when Fleming allegedly stabbed her 3-year-old son Daishawn and 11-month-old son Octavius. Psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith, who evaluated Fleming at the request of the prosecution, stated that she was "grossly psychotic and out of touch with reality" during the killings.

Fleming had been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and prescribed psychotropic medication but did not adhere to her treatment regimen, using marijuana instead, which exacerbated her mental health symptoms. A shelter employee called 911 reporting water and smoke coming from Fleming's apartment, where police found the children unresponsive.

Fleming initially denied the killings but later allegedly confessed. Prosecutors said trying her for double murder would not serve justice, while her defense argued she was not criminally responsible due to her mental state. Fleming will be re-evaluated by court-appointed psychiatrists and is scheduled to return to court on September 18.
