VIDEO: Nigerians are already in hell, Ibiyeomie urges compassionate evangelism

Nigerian evangelist David Ibiyeomie has urged Christians to approach those struggling with poverty and economic hardship by sharing messages of God's love and compassion, rather than focusing on the threat of hell. Speaking on Sunday during a sermon titled "The Power of Compassion," Ibiyeomie argued that preaching about hell to people already facing severe economic challenges may not effectively lead them to Christ.

He emphasized that Christians should assure struggling individuals that God loves them and can transform their circumstances, rather than simply warning of divine retribution. Ibiyeomie explained that compassion, which involves seeing a person's situation, caring about it, and taking action, is a strong expression of God's nature and a powerful tool for evangelism.

He pointed to Psalm 103:8, which describes God as compassionate and gracious, and cited Ephesians 4:32, which calls for Christians to be kind and compassionate to one another, just as God forgave them. According to Ibiyeomie, genuine compassion extends beyond financial assistance and can include acts of faith and practical help.
