Unopposed again! How Arun Dhumal is set to retain IPL chairmanship as BCCI notifies governing council elections

The Election Commission of India has begun the balloting process for two IPL Governing Council seats ahead of the September 18 Annual General Meeting (AGM). BCCI officials confirmed that the current members, Arun Dhumal and Khairul Jamal Majumdar, are widely expected to be re-elected unopposed for another year. The election procedure, governed by Rule 28 of the BCCI's constitution, involves nomination submission, objection handling, finalizing the electoral roll, and finally, the voting at the AGM.

Nominations, objections, and the final electoral roll are expected to be completed between August 25 and September 12. The voter roll will be published on September 8, and candidates will have the opportunity to file their papers on September 9 or 10. The final vote will take place at the AGM on September 18.

Dhumal, who represents Himachal Pradesh, currently holds one of the two elected seats on the IPL Governing Council along with Khairul Jamal Majumdar from Mizoram. Neither of them is anticipated to face any serious opposition during the vote-counting process. Arun Dhumal's re-election as IPL Chairman is almost assured as the BCCI has not anticipated any significant challenges to his position.
