UAE expands global sports partnerships to build future champions

Abu Dhabi is expanding its global sports partnerships to cultivate future champions, according to recent reports. The UAE is intensifying its alliances with prominent international sports federations and elite global institutions to nurture local talent and propel them to podium finishes worldwide. Leveraging advanced infrastructure and a schedule of high-caliber events, the nation is broadening its partnerships across various sports disciplines.

Football takes center stage as football academies in collaboration with football giants such as Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid form the cornerstone of this initiative. The MENA region is uniquely represented by the sole Lega Serie A office in Abu Dhabi. In addition to football, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi is forging new major rights deals with the NBA and UFC, bolstered by partnerships within the DP World Tour for golf and specialized sports science monitoring for national rugby squads.

These international expansion strategies extend to modern pentathlon and badminton, ensuring a diverse, multi-sport developmental framework. The overarching objective behind these strategic collaborations is to identify and nurture talent, ultimately creating a pipeline of future champions. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum emphasized that these alliances form a crucial foundation for talent identification and champion development.
