Thane: Three men lost their lives on Sunday afternoon after a tragic incident in the Ganesh Visarjan Ghat area, where they entered the water near Retibunder for a swim. The victims, identified as Alam Sayyed (42), Rizwan Sayyed (42), and Sahil Polandas (30), all residents of Thakurpada, Mumbra, were pulled from the water by rescue teams.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3:08 PM and a joint response team comprising police, fire brigade, disaster management and response units arrived promptly. Despite the challenges posed by the strong currents and unpredictable depth of the creek, all three bodies were located and recovered by 4:20 PM.
