Soldiers foil terrorists’ advance in Sokoto community

Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops thwarted a suspected terrorist incursion into Ghandi town, located within the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State. This significant development surfaced in a recent post on X, shared by security analyst Bakatsine on Sunday morning. Intelligence had prompted the troops to take proactive action, positioning themselves around the Ghandi Bridge to counter the unauthorized advance.

Upon engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle, the troops were successful in forcing the terrorists to retreat, thus preventing their infiltration into the town. The combat resulted in several casualties among the attackers, with some sustaining injuries during the skirmish. Others attempted to flee via the adjacent river, but their escape attempts were quickly thwarted.

A subsequent search conducted early Sunday revealed the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, additional rounds of ammunition, and personal effects belonging to the fleeing suspects. Bakatsine further stated that troops are continuing mop-up operations aimed at apprehending any remaining terrorists who may be attempting to escape.
