Several injured after shots fired at event in Switzerland's Aarau

Several individuals were injured after gunfire erupted during an event in Schachen, Aarau, early Sunday morning, as reported by the Aargau cantonal police. The police have not confirmed if any fatalities occurred or identified the individual who discharged the shots. A comprehensive police operation is currently underway in the vicinity.

The police department issued a statement on X, declaring, "Aarau: Nighttime shots at event in Schachen. Several victims. Major police operation underway. Stay away from the area. More information to follow."

Authorities have advised the public to avoid the Aarau Schachen area while the operation is ongoing. The Aarau swimming pool has also been ordered to remain closed until further notice. According to the local newspaper Blick, the shooting took place near the horse racing track, where attendees had gathered for the Aarau Rave. A video captured the sound of multiple gunshots around 2:35am, though the footage's authenticity could not be independently verified.

Vanessa Rumpold, a media spokesperson for the Aargau Cantonal Police, informed Blick that the incident was "located at the horse racing track." The exact circumstances surrounding the event remain unclear, as the police can only confirm that several shots were fired at a large group of people. The Army Super Puma helicopter was also deployed to the scene. The police have reiterated the closure of the swimming pool, cautioning visitors to stay away from the Aarau Schachen region.
