Salloi’s late marker helps Toronto earn 1-1 MLS draw with New York City

Toronto FC secured a 1-1 draw with New York City FC at BMO Field on Saturday, thanks to a late second-half goal from Daniel Salloi. The Hungarian striker came on as a substitute in the 70th minute and scored his sixth goal of the season, converting a pass from Theo Corbeanu to beat goalkeeper Matt Freese. Nicolas Fernandez put NYCFC ahead in the 29th minute with a well-placed shot from outside the penalty area, making him the third-highest scorer in the MLS Golden Boot race.

Despite several chances for both sides, neither team could capitalize on them. Toronto's Derrick Etienne Jr. missed a late opportunity, while NYCFC's Andres Perea hit the post in the 51st minute. Toronto extended their unbeaten streak to five games, having not lost since July 25th. The teams will next face Nashville on Friday and the Chicago Fire on Saturday.
