Russo-Ukrainian war, day 1648: Russia hunts Ukraine’s grain trains

On day 1648 of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Russia continues its relentless pursuit of Ukraine's grain trains. Ukraine has devised five strategies to counter Russia's Iskander missiles, but only one has arrived in time to thwart the strikes on the power grid. A Ukrainian Bulat tank, an up-armored T-64 variant, was discovered in a brigade that never possessed one.

Russia's naval blockade has forced Ukraine to rely on drones for monitoring grain trains. By late August, Ukraine has managed to export only a third of its typical grain output. Russian forces have damaged over 250 locomotives over the past six months.

Ukraine's aviation commander claims that new aircraft developments are nearing completion and are presently undergoing testing. Intelligence reports indicate that Russia has incorporated a recruitment scheme from Nepal, Cuba, Kenya, and India into its operations in Indonesia. Ukraine's foreign intelligence has documented the presence of at least eight Indonesian citizens recruited by Russia.

The CIA's new director visited Moscow, and Poland's prime minister warned that Russia is preparing for a significant escalation of the war. Poland's prime minister stated that there are indications of serious Russian preparations, and the critical window for de-escalation may span seven to eight months. On the humanitarian front, Russia launched its third assault on Ukraine's largest Danube port this month, coinciding with the peak of the wheat harvest. Five grain trucks were destroyed and three more were damaged in the Izmail district.
