Russia unlikely to risk attack on NATO – Finnish President Stubb

The death toll from a Russian attack on a warehouse west of Kyiv, the deadliest strike in Ukraine this year, has risen to 38 with four people still unaccounted for, President Zelenskyy reported on social media on Sunday. The assault, which occurred on Friday night, led to massive explosions and fires that engulfed numerous homes and buildings in the village of Myla.

Ukrainian officials identified the warehouse as an ammunition storage facility. Emergency personnel continued to battle fires and locate and defuse explosive devices at the site. Zelenskyy stated that 20 individuals, including two children, sustained injuries. Concurrently, Russia's Defense Ministry announced plans to launch "massive strikes" against Ukraine's energy infrastructure in response to Ukrainian drone attacks targeting a major retailer and the country's oil and gas sector, which Moscow claims fund and directly fuel its invasion.

Ukraine has been striking Russia's biggest online retailer, Wildberries, alleging that its sales of dual-use goods have supported the Kremlin's war efforts. Additionally, Ukrainian drones have bombarded Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities, causing a critical fuel shortage in a nation that is among the world's leading energy producers.

In past winters, Russia systematically targeted Ukraine's power grid, leaving thousands without heat and light during freezing temperatures. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly cautioned that the upcoming winter may be the most severe since Russia initiated its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
