'Renewed commitment': Gargash sets out UAE support for Palestine after 50,000 celebrate ties in Dubai

Dr Anwar Gargash, the UAE's diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed, affirmed the nation's unwavering support for the Palestinian people following a community event where thousands gathered in Dubai to celebrate their enduring ties. The large turnout at the Emirates Loves Palestine gathering highlighted the "deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood and solidarity".

Gargash stated that the UAE would continue providing a safe haven for Palestinians, ensuring their security and stability. He shared his commitment to the UAE's position of renewed support for Palestine on social media platform X. The event, part of the Emirates Loves series, brought together about 50,000 individuals from the Palestinian and Emirati communities, along with the nation's diverse expatriate population.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, praised the event as the "largest gathering of the Palestinian community in the world". Palestinian Ambassador to the UAE, Abeer Al Ramahi, expressed her pride and gratitude at the UAE's celebration of Palestinian heritage and culture, emphasizing the message of love and affection expressed at the gathering.

Meanwhile, a parallel Palestine Loves the UAE event took place in Gaza Strip, coinciding with the Dubai event and organized with the support of Operation Gallant Knight 3. This gathering paid tribute to humanitarian ties and Palestinian culture. The Dubai event featured a live broadcast from Gaza, connecting Dubai attendees with their Palestinian counterparts.

Over the years, the UAE has provided significant assistance to Palestine, serving as the largest single donor to Gaza in wartime, spending approximately $3 billion between 2023 and 2025. The UAE has delivered humanitarian aid through various means, even during the peak of the Iran conflict, and has established medical facilities to provide life-saving care to injured Palestinians.

An additional five humanitarian aid convoys, carrying 903 tonnes of essential supplies in 74 lorries, have entered Gaza, delivering critical food, education, and shelter materials to support Palestinian communities struggling with the aftermath of the Gaza war.
