Chelsea maintained their winning start under new manager Xabi Alonso after a thrilling seven-goal match against Brighton on Sunday. The London side had previously defeated Fulham 3-2 in their season opener and continued the high-scoring tradition with a 4-3 victory at Stamford Bridge. Alonso's team took an early three-goal lead in the first half through Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto, and Joao Pedro.
However, Brighton fought back with two goals from Malick Yalcouy and an own-goal from Pedro. Cole Palmer restored Chelsea's two-goal advantage before Pascal Gross scored for Brighton in the final seconds, making the final score 4-3.
