PM Modi Receives Uzbekistan's Highest Honour, Dedicates It To India-Uzbekistan Friendship

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Uzbekistan's highest distinction, the Oliy Darajali Do’stlik Order, by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Prime Minister of India dedicated this prestigious award to the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan. Modi expressed his immense pride in receiving the 'Oliy Darajali Do'stlik' Order, stating that the word 'Dostlik,' which is associated with the award, is frequently spoken in Indian families.

He emphasized that the essence of this friendship lies in the shared heritage and centuries-old bond between the two nations.

During his two-day visit to Uzbekistan, Modi aims to strengthen ties in various sectors such as trade, clean energy, and connectivity. Upon his arrival, Modi engaged in talks with Mirziyoyev, leading to the decision to elevate the relationship between India and Uzbekistan to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two countries have set a target of $5 billion in trade by 2030.

Modi expressed his gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan, the government, and President Mirziyoyev on behalf of the entire 1.4 billion Indian population. He accepted the highest honour with humility and dedicated it to the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan. Following his visit to Uzbekistan, Modi is scheduled to travel to Kyrgyzstan for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, which will take place from August 31 to September 1.
