Pansar plants 503 native trees at UPM Bintulu in sustainability drive

Pansar Berhad has planted 503 native trees on the grounds of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus, as part of its commitment to biodiversity and environmental sustainability. The event, held in conjunction with the company's Tree Planting and Family Day, saw 120 employees and their families from Sibu, Miri, Kuching, and Bintulu participate in the planting.

Pansar's COO, David Tai, explained that the initiative comprised 500 Engkabang Jantung (oil-bearing seed trees) and three Belian trees, both of which are native species revered for their ecological importance. The Belian tree, often referred to as the legendary ironwood of Borneo, represents unmatched strength, resilience, and longevity.

Tai highlighted that the University of Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus was selected due to its expertise in agricultural and forestry sciences, which ensures the trees' long-term ecological benefits. The company's environmental initiatives, including this tree planting, align with its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda and contribute to various Sustainable Development Goals, such as Climate Action (SDG 13), Life on Land (SDG 15), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).
