Oleksandr Svatok’s stoppage-time goal helps Austin beat Timbers 2-1

Austin FC secured a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers in a thrilling match, thanks to a late stoppage-time goal by Oleksandr Svatok. The Ukrainian striker scored his second goal of the season in the fourth minute of added time, securing the win for Austin. Facundo Torres also found the back of the net early in the game, while Brad Stuver made four crucial saves for Austin, who are currently unbeaten in their last three matches following a three-game losing streak.

The match began with a flurry of action, as Joseph Rosales set up Torres with an in-breaking corner kick. However, Timbers' Finn Surman cleared the ball only to have it blocked by Surman again, setting the stage for Svatok's decisive goal. Besard Sabovic provided a crucial assist by tapping a pass from outside the penalty area to Torres, who scored a sliding one-timer from near the post in the 25th minute.

In the 89th minute, Antony Alves Santos converted a penalty awarded to the Timbers after Svatok's foul, further narrowing the gap. Despite this late effort, Austin FC held on to their lead, winning the match and demonstrating their resilience as they continue to climb the Western Conference standings.
