NDC should remove content creators posing as activists — Spokesperson

The spokesperson for the New Democratic Congress, Theo Agada, has urged the party leadership to remove what he termed as "opportunistic content creators masquerading as activists" before the 2027 general elections. Agada expressed his frustration in a post on X, reacting to a video shared by a content creator known as Flag Boy NG.

The video depicted the creator, donning a shirt affiliated with the Obidient Movement, displaying political flags and materials associated with Peter Obi and the New Democratic Congress (NDC), before removing the shirt and setting the items ablaze. This action has sparked varying interpretations on social media, with some viewing it as a move to distance themselves from the NDC and Obi's political movement.

Agada accused certain content creators of exploiting activism for personal gain and called for the party leadership to address this issue. He wrote, "To be honest, I am so exhausted. I think it is about time the party leadership got rid of these opportunistic content creators masquerading as activists. If the motivation is not campaign donations, why are you people fighting over leadership in your micro-movements?

Shame on you all." This call comes as political parties and movements gear up for the 2027 general elections. The NDC has become a platform for supporters of former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, but discussions persist about the party and Obi's future. The video shared by Flag Boy NG showed him removing political flags, taking off his shirt, gathering the materials, dousing them with liquid, and setting them on fire, ending with a graphic featuring Nigerian flags.
