Modi, Uzbek President Mirziyoyev talk uranium supply, set $5 billion trade target

India and Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in Tashkent to strengthen ties between the two nations. The leaders discussed expanding their strategic partnership and set a goal of $5 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. The meeting covered various sectors including trade, investment, infrastructure, critical minerals, mining, defence, health, IT, education, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

They signed several MoUs and agreements in areas like mining, culture, education, tourism, and ayurveda. A Letter of Intent was also signed for the restoration and conservation of Buddhist sites in Uzbekistan. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Uzbekistan for a two-day visit to boost bilateral relations, focusing on trade, clean energy, and connectivity.

He emphasized that the visit marked the 15th anniversary of their strategic partnership. Modi and Mirziyoyev also agreed to establish a Coordination Council at the foreign minister level to guide their cooperation.
