Manhunt in Switzerland after fatal rave shooting

Swiss police are actively searching for gunmen who opened fire at a rave in Aarau, near Zurich, killing one person and injuring five others, some seriously. This rare event in the nation with a long tradition of gun ownership is believed to have occurred around 3am near the Aarauer Rave, an annual techno party attended by around 3,500 people.

The victims, aged between 24 and 27, were taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to severe. The motive and exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear. Police have deployed a large-scale operation, with armed officers at the scene and on surrounding highways, and are working with Freiburg police due to the incident's proximity to the German border.

Several shots were reportedly fired before the rave, with witnesses describing them as bursts rather than fireworks. The incident has deeply affected some attendees, including DJ Tekibo, who lost a friend. Swiss news reports indicate that civilians own over 2.3 million firearms, making Switzerland the 16th country worldwide in terms of weapons per capita.
