Malaysia King expresses hope for smooth National Day celebrations after audience with PM Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim has expressed optimism that tomorrow's National Day festivities will proceed without a hitch, contingent upon all involved parties making every effort to ensure their triumph. This sentiment was conveyed by Sultan Ibrahim after he granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku.

The monarch conveyed his hope for the smooth progression of the National Day commemorations, stating, "I hope the National Day celebrations will run smoothly, and I look forward to seeing everyone involved giving their best to honor this significant occasion in our nation's history." During their meeting, the King was also apprised of the most recent happenings in the country, encompassing the preparations for the festivities.

The 69th National Day celebrations, under the theme 'Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati', are slated to commence at 8am tomorrow at Dataran Putrajaya, with a participating contingent of 10,819 parade members from 76 contingents and 22 marching bands. Sultan Ibrahim and Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah are expected to attend the celebrations, alongside Anwar and cabinet members.
