Leody Taveras drives in 3 as the Orioles beat the Athletics 5-3

On Saturday night, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Athletics 5-3, with Leody Taveras making a significant contribution. Taveras had been struggling at bat, hitting only 0-for-12 in his previous games, but he broke out of that slump with two doubles and three RBIs in this win.

Colton Cowser put the Orioles on the scoreboard in the fifth inning, hitting a home run over the center field wall. Earlier, Taveras had broken the game open with a ground-rule double off Athletics pitcher Jack Perkins, which brought in Athletics' base runner Coby Mayo.

Taveras continued his offensive production with a second double in the sixth inning, which drove in two more runs, giving Baltimore a commanding 4-0 lead. Despite a bases-loaded walk by Orioles' player Lawrence Butler and a hit-by-pitch from Donovan Walton, the Athletics managed to pull within 4-2 in the bottom of the inning.

The Athletics rallied with an RBI single by Carlos Cortes in the eighth inning, bringing their lead down to just one run. However, Cowser scored from third base on a passed ball by Athletics catcher Jonah Heim in the ninth inning, sealing the victory for the Orioles.
