Leatherwood throws 4 TDs in Tennessee Tech win over Monmouth

Jax Leatherwood shone brightly in Tennessee Tech's 38-14 victory over Monmouth, tossing for 289 yards and throwing four touchdown passes. The game served as an opening match for both the teams. Tennessee Tech got a 7-0 lead early when Leatherwood connected a 2-yard pass to Gabe Nunez. Elijah Jennings then ran the ball in from the 11 to level the score.

Leatherwood added an 18-yard touchdown to Qua Ashley just before halftime, making it 14-7. Carter Brown then kicked a 40-yard field goal to give the Hawks a 10-point lead, 10 seconds before the break. A 75-yard, five-play drive ended with a 6-yard touchdown run by MJ Flowers, pushing the lead to 24-7 with 12:41 remaining in the third quarter.

Leatherwood threw his fourth touchdown on a 16-yarder to Maury Sullivan to extend the Hawks' advantage to 31-7. Monmouth's Kenny Smith closed the scoring with a 1-yard run, ending the game.
